Previous owner's name and address on ffep dated 1913. No other markings found. Edge and corner wear, frayed head of spine. Small stains. Back joint split 1/2" at tail of spine. Binding is all together but hinges and two gutters cracked. Top half of title page is loose. Well tanned pages, a few smudge stained. A good reading copy in Fair condition.

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. An about good undated hardcover in an about good price clipped dustwrapper. The book is in brown boards which are a little bowed and lightly bumped to the corners, the spine is bumped to the ends and there is spine lean, inked writing on the reverse of the frontispiece (dated 1943) and the corner is clipped, toned pages foxed and toned to the text-block edges. The attractive dustwrapper is a little aged/foxed, creased/rubbed to the edges with a small closed tear to the bottom of the front panel and small chips from the spine ends/tips - supplied in a new removable archival sleeve. Carefully packaged and despatched within 48 hours from our wee bookshop in Scotland.; 75x56.

The boards have a little white marking to the right edge of the front panel and slight corner rubbng. Scattered light marking to page edges. Previous owner's name and date (1939) in ink to the front free endpaper (my mother). There is a little spotting at the front of the book but the pages are otherwise free from browning or any other marking and are otherwise clean and unmarked. Coloured frontispiece which matches the jacket illustration. The jacket has a three inch tear at the top left corner of the front panel, a one inch tear to the top right corner and a three inch tear to the bottom left corner. There is some chipping to the corners and there is a little loss at the top of the spine but the jacket is largely complete. The rear panel has some surface discolouration. Believed to be a second edition from the mid to late 1930s published in Excelsior Library series and priced at 1/3 but no publication date is given.
