This medium-sized hard cover book (6 ¼ x 9 ¼ inches, 262 pages) was published by Edmonston Publishing Co. of Hamilton, New York, dated 1997 and the First Printing of the First Edition. David Francis Ritchie was a war correspondent as well as a combatant and his articles for the Utica Morning Herald and his letters home carried detailed descriptions and penetrating analyses of his war experiences. The book is lightly illustrated with 6 plates and 2 campaign maps. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket is pristine and so too the dark red boards (although they are slightly bowed). The book is completely unmarked and the pages are bright white and clean throughout.
