First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Near Fine. H. Lawrence Hoffman (illustrator). 1st Edition. 8vo., 217pp. Sharp First Edition, First Printing with the Rinehart "R" on the copyright page as called for. An Honorable Mention winner in the Mary Roberts Rinehart Mystery Novel Prize Contest. Bound in black cloth with titles in white on the spine. Square, tight and clean throughout with no toning or foxing. Just a touch of rubbing to heel. but really little or no wear otherwise. Very attractive unclipped dust-jacket, ($2.50), has mild edge-wear and a tiny nick to the crown. Mild toning. Still quite fresh and bright with no creases, or tears. Though not marked in any way, this came directly from the library of H. Lawrence Hoffman who illustrated the dust-jacket. His son, David Hoffman, the noted documentary filmmaker, has signed a statement with information about his father, the artist, and attesting that the book was from his library. A copy of this is included. A very pretty collectable copy of a surprisingly quite uncommon title.
