Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. O'Flaherty (1901-1959), born outside Westport, was a member of The Society of African Missions. A printer by training, from 1929 to 1934 he served as a missionary in Nigeria (which provided inspiration for some of the poems) and on his return to Ireland in 1934 he was appointed Edito…r of the SMA's publication, African Missionary, published monthly, a function he performed until 1952. He was also an accomplished artist; an example of his draftsmanship can be seen in the drawing on the final end paper. A copy of an obituary is tipped in. Bright, unmarked and tightly bound.

Softcover. Condition: Poor. Front cover is detached along the spine edge. Title page, frontis, and front blank are detached but present. Spine has tearing and paper loss, covers have edge wear. Front cover has some slight damp staining to the lower portion, less on the rear cover. Seen to the lower edge of the frontis, much less… to lower edges of first few and last few leaves. Initials on front cover have been mostly erased. Apparently unrelated writing in pencil on the rear blank. ; Inscribed by D. C. O'Flaherty on the front blank, signed with initials only. Plays include The Temple of Dust - co-authored with D. C. O'Flaherty; The Heroic Inventor; My Last Duchess - dramatized from the poem by Robert Browning; and others. The frontis has a portrait photo of Rawlings as Hamlet.
