Very good. Commemorative book of poetry, drama, translations and short essays by Oliver Pancoast Lund M.D., D.D.S. (1862-1901), published a year after his death in 1902. Lund was a doctor of dental surgery, having attended the Pennsylvania College of Dentistry and Jefferson Medical College. Lund was also a member of several literary clubs in the city of Philadelphia. The literary works here span the author's life, with the earliest poem was written at age eleven.…

A graduate of Harvard College and Yale Law School, he would briefly serve as Dean of the University of Pennsylvania Law School; as the sixteenth president of the University of Iowa from 1982 to 1987; and as the fifteenth president of Dartmouth College, from 1987 to 1998. Freedman self-consciously tried to create at both Iowa and Dartmouth, as The New York Times described it, 'a haven for intellectuals,' with mixed results' (Wikipedia).…

A compilation of poems, essays and translations by the deceased Lund, a Pennsylvania physician and a member of various literary clubs. Probably printed as a remembrance in a limited number with this copy with signed inscription in an unknown hand: "Presented to E. A. Shulenberger by memory of his classmate- Oliver P. Lund, D.D.S., September first 1902." Possibly inscribed by Lund's son, who compiled and wrote an introduction for the book. Rare!!
