The copy of Alexander Hood (1727-1814), later Lord Bridport, English naval hero, third in command at the Glorious First of June, together with the exceedingly rare ceremonial programme for his own installation into the Order at Westminster Abbey. An inscription in his hand to the rear endpaper suggests that Hood gave the book to his first cousin once removed Captain Alexander Hood (1758-1798): 'Mon. 21st of July 88. I Sir Alexander Hood acquaint Capt. Hood that he must have a ribband between the third and fourth button hole of his coat the colour of the Order. He supposes the ribband of his month will answer.'
