Hardcover. Condition: Very Good-. Illustrated by R. Farrington Elwell (illustrator). 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Color Illustrations; This book is in Very Good- condition and is lacking a dust jacket. The book and its contents are in generally clean, bright condition. The tan covers of the book have some ground-in dirt and edge wear, along with some wear and beginning fading to the spine of the book. The text pages are mostly clean and bright, however there is some beginning foxing, especially to the endpapers and tissue guards. There is a former owner's inked gift notation on the front endpaper. This book is a sequel to Ostrander's 1907 The Little White Indians. The author, Fannie Ostrander was best known for her younger children's books including several ABC books, and a few books about a Goose family. More interestingly, this volume contains eight color illustrations by R. Farrington Elwell, who was trained as a draftsman and became a graphic artist and letterer for the Boston Globe - in 1892 William F." Buffalo Bill" Cody visited Boston - Elwell produced some advertising and publicity items for this visit and was able to meet the larger than life Cody himself. The two men became friends and Cody invited Elwell to visit him at his Montana ranch. Over the years, Elwell became a very adept illustrator /artist of Western Americana and Cowboy life."
