Oblong hardcover. The economic importance of the Devonian System in Canada need hardly be stressed. Most of the major oilfields in Western Canada produce from rocks of Devonian age and the devonian contains almost 60% of the proven reserves of oil and 30% of the reserves of natural gas. The Devonian, however, is of interest to others beside the petroleum geologist. The lead-zinc mineralization at Pine Point, onGreat Slave Lake, which occurs on a "ree" of Middle Devonian age, has produced one of the largets base metal deposits in the world. Extensive potash deposits occur in the Middle Devonian of Saskatchewan. A total of 243 pages with maps, photographs, illustrations, profiles, tables, facies, and references. Bound in original green cloth with lettering stamped in gilt. The two volumes are near fine. A handsome set. Book.
