Paperback. Condition: Good. Is God Greater Than Your Circumstances? Life's storms can be relentless - financial stress, relationship strife, or even the death of a loved one. Benny Perez has been there: he and his wife, Wendy, lost a child in the womb. Tragically, it happened during a routine sonogram: as they watched the heart monitor, their child's heartbeat fell from normal to flat-line in a manner of minutes. A day later, Wendy nearly died after a routine follow-up procedure. Yet, they survived. But even more, they thrived - not out of their own strength, but God's. Benny writes, "As I kept asking, 'Why? Why? Why?' God kept simply answering, 'I'm right here.' I kept thinking, 'That's not an answer,' but then I began to realize that it was. Jesus was in the midst of all that I was going through, right there with me, and it was not about 'Why?' - it was about 'Who.' ".…

A hacker gets into the Pope's personal computer to leave a warning about mysterious deaths in a small church in Seville that is threatened with demolition. Father Quart, a suave Vatican troubleshooter is sent to investigate. Paperback. Condition: Good. Mending Children's Broken Hearts is a collection of the thoughts and experiences of Grace S. Wolff, a respected innovative pediatric cardiologist. The subject matter is daunting--Grace devoted her career to the care of severely ill children. Yet Grace's stories are shot through with an almost miraculous compassion. She trusted, and she teaches the reader to trust, that there is a thread of hope and wonder even in the worst misfortune. The book stands as a tribute to Grace, to preserve and share her conviction that patient care should be built from the recognition of each patient as an individual human being. It should be useful to patients, medical professionals, and caregivers, as a source of solace and wisdom. About the Author Armando I. Perez, Ph.D., husband of the late Grace S. Wolff, M.D., was born in Havana, Cuba. Soon after the Revolution, he immigrated with his family to Spain and from there to the United States. In his career he was an environmental engineer and urban planner, and served in numerous societies and committees--most notably as Chair of the Urban Planning and Development Division of the American Society of Civil Engineers, from which he received the Harland Bartholomew National Urban Planning Award. Before he retired, he was a vice president with the international consulting firm CDM Smith Inc. Dr. Perez spends his retirement playing the alto saxophone, learning French and Italian, and participating in book clubs and church activities. He divides the year between his home in Coral Gables, Florida, and his vacation cabin in the Adirondacks of New York. Perhaps the greatest challenge of his life was to provide care for his beloved Grace when she contracted ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease). Grace fought the disease as forcefully as she had toiled on behalf of her patients, but she succumbed in July 2015. He wrote this book in her honor. The author has arranged for his portion of the proceeds to be given to the Pediatric Cardiology Research Fund of the Medical College of Wisconsin, from which Grace graduated.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. Every time I can't sleep I lay in bed tossing and turning. I think of what you said to me: Sometimes the world won't stop turning, even if you ask it to. Sometimes you have to love it, even when it's hard to. So, on nights like these I think of you and your easy smile. The world is cold and hard, and that smile is my hearth. This collection of poetry and prose has movement of its own. There is honesty and fluidity in its language. The interruption of journal entries adds to the conversation of and with poetry. In all it is a story - a poetic journey about finding love within one's self and the people who inspire.R YS Perez is an indie poet located in NYC, born and raised, where she is attending college and working as a writing tutor. Her aim is to teach English at underprivileged high schools in the inner city. This is her first publication as a poet and writer. …

Paperback. Condition: Good. Austin Film Festival (AF) is the first organization of its kind to focus on the writer's creative contribution to film. Its annual Film Festival and Conference offers screenings, panels, workshops, and roundtable discussions that help new writers and filmmakers connect with mentors and gain advice and insight from masters, as well as refreshing veterans with new ideas. To extend the Festival's reach, AF produces On Story, a television series currently airing on PBS-affiliated stations and streaming online that presents footage of high-caliber artists talking candidly and provocatively about the art and craft of screenwriting and filmmaking, often using examples from their own films. This book distills the advice of renowned, award-winning screenwriters who have appeared on On Story, including John Lee Hancock, Peter Hedges, Lawrence Kasdan, Whit Stillman, Robin Swicord, and Randall Wallace. In their own lively words and stories transcribed from interviews and panel discussions, they cover the entire development of a screenplay, from inspiration, story, process, structure, characters, and dialogue to rewriting and collaboration. Their advice is fresh, practical, and proven--these writers know how to tell a story on screen. Enjoy this collection of ideas and use it to jumpstart your own screenwriting career.…
