1953. (Hardcover) Very good plus in very good dust jacket. 56pp. The dust jacket is edgeworn and has a 5-inch closed tear along the spine. "This gifted Canadian poet now gives us work on a somewhat more ambitious scale. His new volume contains several long poems, and is in general based upon his experience as a soldier during the Italian campaign. Here are the emotions of war recollected in tranquillity, its agonies and ardours seen in perspective, its broken images pieced together into a serious, eloquent, imaginative poetry which stirs the heart and satisfies the mind". (Poetry--Canada, Canadian Literature, Poetry, War Poetry).
