Dernière édition de cette description et manuel d'utilisation des microscopes et télescopes de Passemant, le plus célèbre des fabricants d'instruments d'optique français du XVIIIe siècle. Outre ces instruments on y trouve des baro…mètres, des instruments de physique, des machines pneumatiques ou électriques, des pendules astronomiques, des horloges, des montres, etc. La première édition, vers 1750, ne comptait que 29 pages. Celle-ci a été revue et augmentée "par ses élèves et successeurs", qui étaient Ollivier et Nicolet. Elle est illustrée d'une gravure dépliante représentant un microscope composé de type Cuff auquel on a ajouté deux micromètres inventés par Passemant. A la fin : "Table des prix des télescopes de réflexion, & des microscopes de Passemant." Il est très rare de trouver ce petit ouvrage en reliure de l'époque, comme celui-ci. Très bon exemplaire. In addition to these instruments, it includes barometers, physics instruments, pneumatic and electric machines, astronomical clocks, watches, etc. The first edition, circa 1750, had 29 pages only. This edition was revised and enlarged "by his pupils and successors", who were Ollivier et Nicolet. It is illustrated with a fold-out engraving of a compound microscope of the Cuff type, to which two micrometers invented by Passemant have been added. At the end: "Table des prix des télescopes de réflexion, & des microscopes de Passemant." Very rare in contemporary binding, as here. Very good copy. -.

Il fut dans ce domaine le digne successeur de Bion, qui fut en quelque sorte son mentor, puisque c'est à la lecture du célèbre traité de ce dernier qu'il se prit de passion pour les instruments. En tête plat supérieur, super ex-libris « B[ibliothèque] LE TURC » estampé à froid. Sur le premier contre-plat, ex-libris imprimé de Lemercier-des-Alleuz.
