In the the title article, L'Energie de l'Acteur Comme Premisse, Italian scholar Nando Taviani (1942-2020) offers a view of the actor?s 'energy' as a 'premise' for artistic and theoretical research. Elaborating the fundamentals of theatre anthropology and replying to common objections, Taviani defines theatre anthropology as a 'hand-made theory.' Ian Watson later considered this definition as one of the most successful. Taviani also discusses the relationship of theatre anthropology with science and the complementarity of energy as animus and anima according to theater director Eugenio Barba. This important work was later reprinted in the Journal of Theatre Anthropology. Dans le monde entier, des metteurs en scène de premier rang comme Jerzy Grotowski, Eugenio Barba ou Bob Wilson sont sans cesse revenus sur ce travail et sur l'influence qu'il a pu exercer sur eux. Or, depuis la parution de Paroles sur le mime en 1963 aux éditions Gallimard, quarante ans se sont écoulés sans que dans son propre pays un livre soit à nouveau consacré à Etienne Decroux. Cette édition est amenée à combler une grande lacune : il y avait urgence à ce que les convictions profondes d'Etienne Decroux ne s'envolent en fumée ou ne subsistent qu'en paroles seulement connues de ceux (particulièrement en France) qui ont eu le privilège de l'avoir connu et fréquenté dans son travail. Au cours de la mise en chantier de ce livre-hommage, pour compléter les études et les témoignages recueillis, Patrick Pezin a élaboré un " Interview imaginaire " avec le matériel confié par Thomas Leabhart : des propos enregistrés de 1968 à 1972 au cours de la période où il avait été élève de Decroux, et lors de ses fréquents voyages en France jusqu'en 1987. Dans une seconde partie sont réunis des textes d'anciens élèves, de metteurs en scène, d'universitaires.
