The Iowa native was an author, poet, naturalist, wood carver, taxidermist, and insurance company executive, was also a major figure in the American Regionalist movement. Sigmund's work was nearly forgotten but a modest revival seems to be occurring; an omnibus volume was published in 2008. A nicely produced and relatively uncommon book.…

Finally, in 1944, Paul Engle of Iowa sent a group of my poems to the editorsâ"and at last I was starred in the cherished magazine. ."
