Hardcover. Condition: Very good. 127, [1] pages. Illustrations. Cover has slight wear and soiling. Illustrated end pages. The first issue of 600 Magazine, then called "The 600" was published in November 1926. At the time it was a monthly and its 'raison d'etre' according to the first editorial was "The desire on the part of the Directors to foster a closer co-operation between the Parent Company and its many associated concerns.' Fifty years later 600 Magazine had a wider brief in that in addition to its staff readership each issue was read by some 200,000 existing and potential customers in the United Kingdom and overseas. In FIfty-FIfty the compilers have selected 50 of their published cartoon that 'still make us laugh' and have matched these with 50 pages of 'BIts and Pieces' from the 201 issues of 600 magazine that had been published in the preceding 50 years. The Group takes its name from the early head office address at 600 Commercial Road in East London. It grew over the years into one of the UK's leading metal recovery and engineering businesses and became a public company in 1947.600 Group formed its first machine tool company in 1932 and became the UK's leading lathe manufacturer through the acquisition of Colchester Lathes in 1954 and TS Harrison in 1971.In the 1980s, the Group established a strong market presence in the US through the acquisition of Clausing Industrial and largely disposed of its original UK metal and general engineering businesses.Over the same period, 600 Group also acquired Precision Engineered component manufacturers, Pratt Burnerd International and Gamet Bearings, and developed a new industrial laser marking division.Further acquisitions throughout Europe increased the Group's presence in key European markets, adding to the worldwide distributor network and offering some of the best machine tools, precision engineered components and laser marking systems available in the market today. The latest acquisition of TYKMA INC., a US laser marking company, has substantially increased the Group's presence in the industrial laser systems market. Presumed first edition, first printing thus.

Add to basketPaperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Urban Love is the story of Tamika and KK, two young African-American youths navigating the hazards and pitfalls of inner-city urban America while trying at the same time to fight against the cruel hands of destiny that seem intent on pulling their relationship apart.Although KK and Tamika grew up next door to each other in the same poverty-stricken, violence-ridden neighborhood, their experiences within their individual homes are dramatically different-Tamika's mother was deeply religious, loving, and sober. KK's mother is an abusive and spiteful alcoholic mess. So, while both Tamika and KK face the same negative influences around them [poverty and its accompanying train of ill and emotional pain], only Tamika has the intestinal fortitude to overcome the temptations of a gang-plagued, fast-money lifestyle.Although this is an urban/street lit novel [intended to be gritty and realistic], it does contain beneath its surface a socially conscious look into the many substantive issues confronting inner-city youth of today. Although Urban Love is a book that ultimately exposes KK's many wrong choices, the book's real goal is to take a frank and honest look into the circumstances and dynamics surrounding those choices. Add to basketPaperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Tiff is sick and tired of being sick and tired. Selling her body out on the track has gotten more and more difficult with each passing day. Not only is her drug habit becoming extremely difficult to support, but she is also becoming quite troubled by the unwanted attention of the many gangbangers and wanna-be pimps who relentlessly harass her and make it virtually impossible for her to practice her trade.Although she had sworn in the past to never do business with a pimp, her promise is quickly broken when Anthony Davis, aka "AD", gets out of prison and aggressively pursues her, eventually moving her mind, body, and spirit in a way that it has never been moved before.Just when things seem to be looking up for Tiff, the violent reality of being involved in "the game" comes calling. And when the bloodshed starts getting too much for her, Tiff starts to seriously question her involvement with AD. However, it's too late to turn back now. Everything is happening too fast. Everybody is locked into their positions. In essence, everyone is a SLAVE TO THE TRADE. This item is printed on demand. Add to basketPaperback. Condition: new. Paperback. A GHETTO LOVE STORYJust because a person is a crack smoker doesn't mean they have to be treated like "Pookie" from New Jack City. With that fact in mind, A Ghetto Love Story makes sure that OG Black responds to the slightest hint of disrespect with extreme violence. By living this way he manages to maintain a comfortable existence on the streets of Seattle as a small time drug hustler. That is until his 18-year-old daughter (who has been in foster care since she was a child) forces herself into his life with some questions that need to be answered.A Ghetto Love Story is the story of what happens when a young girl raised up in the suburbs gets rudely introduced to the darker side of existence. Not only does Tia go looking for her father at the wrong time (in the middle of a bloody street war), but she also winds up becoming emotionally attached to a young gang leader in a way that will without doubt change her life forever. This book should not be confused with other current Urban/Street Lit books on the market. A Ghetto Love Story is intended to be a very realistic look into the pain and misery of the African-American street culture. Although the storyline contains hard language and extreme violence-which is simply part and parcel of street life-it likewise contains an underlying message of love and hope.
