Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. ] Hardbck, octavo, 5 3/4 x 8 1/2 inches, pp xx, 236, Good in Good+ dj (dj in protective Mylar sleeve). First two-thirds of this book is immaculate, including dj front panel (and spine as well). Beginning about p 150 there are the first signs of (which signs increase towards the back of the book) 4 impalings through the dj back panel and the outside back cover and the dj back interior flap and into the interior pages to the maximum depth of 1/4th inch (only one impaling through to about p 150). Impalings might have certainly been purposeful and their effects on enjoyment and readability of the book might range from only nuisance to undoubtedly some disappointment and frustration. Visual effects most notable to the outside back cover of the book, but not that noticeable to the dj back panel/back flap nor even to the pages within. Of the 4 impalings the # of pages affected vary from 15-20 to 20-25 and 30-35 with the worst affecting 70-75 pages. This book seems to be one of the more scarce in hardback (if not the most scarce) of Drucker s published books since the 1970 s (so it seems from a quick assessment) and no other signed copies of this title are online at this writing. First edition of this collection of essays on business, management, economics and society by America's most foremost authority on management. Octavo, original cloth. Boldly signed by Peter Drucker on the front free endpaper. Fine in a fine dust jacket. Jacket design by Paul Perlow. Jacket photograph by Rob Lewine. With the publication of his first book, The End of Economic Man, in 1939 Peter F. Drucker established himself as a trenchant, unorthodox, and independent analyst of politics, economics and society. Most of the essays in this wide-ranging collection, written between 1972 and 1980, are concerned with changes in what Drucker calls "social ecology" - changes in population structure and dynamics; the role of and establishment of institutions; the relation between the sciences and society; and changes in fundamental theories about economics and society long considered truths.

First edition of this work by Drucker. Octavo, original cloth. Boldly signed by Peter Drucker on the front free endpaper. Fine in a near fine dust jacket. Jacket design by William Graef. Challenging, insightful, and provocative, Peter Drucker's The New Realities anticipates the central issues of a rapidly changing world. When it was initially published, in 1989, some reviewers mistakenly thought The New Realities was a book about the future, or in other words, a series of predictions. But, as indicated in the title, the book discusses realities. Drucker argues that events of the next thirty to forty years, or even further on, had already largely been defined by events of the previous half-century. Thus, Drucker discusses episodes in world history that had not yet happened at the time of the book's initial publication, such as: the archaism of the hope for "salvation by society" in "The End of FDR's America"; the democratization of the Soviet Union in "When the Russian Empire is Gone"; the technology boom of the 1990s in "The Information-Based Organization"; and the evolution of management in "Management as Social Function and Liberal Art.".

First edition, early printing of this work "which makes businessmen think thoughts they have never thought before" (The New York Times). Octavo, original cloth. Inscribed by Peter Drucker on the front free endpaper. Fine in a near fine dust jacket. The closing decades of the twentieth century have been characterized as a period of disruption and discontinuity in which the structure and meaning of economy, polity, and society have been radically altered. In this volume Peter Drucker focuses with great clarity and perception on the forces of change that are transforming the economic landscape and creating tomorrow's society. Drucker discerns four major areas of discontinuity underlying contemporary social and cultural reality. These are: (1) the explosion of new technologies resulting in major new industries; (2) the change from an international to a world economyâan economy that presently lacks policy, theory, and institutions; (3) a new sociopolitical reality of pluralistic institutions that poses drastic political, philosophical, and spritual challenges; and (4) the new universe of knowledge based on mass education and its implications in work, leisure, and leadership.

First edition, early printing of Drucker's classic fourth book. Octavo, original cloth. Boldly signed by Peter F. Drucker on the front free endpaper. Fine in a near fine price-clipped dust jacket. In The New Society, Peter Drucker extended his previous works The Future of Industrial Man and The Concept of the Corporation into a systematic, organized analysis of the industrial society that emerged out of World War II. He analyzes large business enterprises, governments, labor unions, and the place of the individual within the social context of these institutions. Although written when the industrial society he describes was at its peak of productivity, Drucker's basic conceptual frame has well stood the test of time. Following publication of the first printing of The New Society, George G. Higgins wrote in Commonweal that "Drucker has analyzed, as brilliantly as any modem writer, the problems of industrial relations in the individual company or 'enterprise.' He is thoroughly at home in economics, political science, industrial psychology, and industrial sociology, and has succeeded admirably in harmonizing the findings of all four disciplines and applying them meaningfully to the practical problems of the 'enterprise.â.
