The is an archive of material used by and formerly belonging to the director of Hanover Street, Peter Hyams. Enclosed in a leather and cloth clamshell box. Hanover Street is a 1979 American-British war film, written and directed by Peter Hyams, and starring Harrison Ford, Lesley-Anne Down and Christopher Plummer. In London during the Second World War, Lieutenant David Halloran (Harrison Ford), an American B-25 bomber pilot with the Eighth Air Force based in England, and Margaret Sellinger (Lesley Anne Down), an English nurse, meet on Hanover Street in a chance encounter. The following day, Halloran's squadron is sent to bomb Rouen. The plane's starboard engine is hit, but the fire is put out, the bombardier, begs Halloran to let him drop the bombs early and turn back, but Halloran does not care about the danger and orders him to wait until they are over the target. The film contains many war action sequences set against Harrison FordÕs romance with Lesley Anne Down. The pieces included in the archive are (A) Original handtyped top ribbon copy manuscript for the screenplay dated July 1977, 138 pages with pencil numbering and annotations throughout. (B) A later draft screenplay dated Febuary 14, 1978 with some doodling and annotation on the title page and rear cover, 145 pages. (C) Shooting schedule number 3 revised May 3, 1978, 27 pages printed on green paper. (D) Research on the various characters and scenes, 14 pages. (E) 2 pages of Peter HyamsÕs personal stationery. (F) Unit List of Painters, workers, and laborers, 3 pages. (G) Call and location sheets printed on yellow and blue paper, 7 pages. (H) Unit list giving the names, addresses, and phone numbers of all the filmÕs various departments and crew members, 21 pages. (I) Lists of Props, 11 pages printed on white, pink and goldenrod papers. (J) Financial papers dealing with the producing of the production, 6 pages. (K) One page receipt dated March 22, 1979 printed on pink paper from Technicolor film labs sending the first six reels of Hanover Street to Peter Hyams at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles where Hyams edited Hanover Street. (L) An interesting 2 page autograph letter signed from Michael Buck, a film friend of Peter Hyam, dated April 23, 1978, asking if he can come and and visit the set of Hanover Street which was being shot at Elstree Studios in England.
