Crawford Long (November 1, 1815 June 16, 1878) was an American surgeon and pharmacist and was credited with the the first use of inhaled sulfuric ether as an anesthetic. The author Joseph Jacobs was a pharmacist and owned Jacob's Pharmacy in Atlanta in the latter 18800's. Jacob's Pharmacy served the first glass of Coca-Cola to the public in 1886. The inventor of the drink was John Pemberton who by 1891 had sold his receipe to Asa Griggs Candler Atlanta businessman.
