Montiert auf Untersatzpapier (Blatt: 500 x 370 mm). *Portraitfoto, aufgenommen von dem belgischen Hoffotografen Charles Rhein. - Philip van Isacker war ein flämischer Nationalist, katholischer Politiker (Minister für Verkehr, 1934 Wirtschaftsminister) sowie Bankier. - Der Ph…otograph Charles Rhein (1870-1960), geboren im Elsaß nahe Straßburg kam erst 1920 als Fotograf in die damals weltweit führende Photo-Firma Gevaert. "His outstanding talent soon came to the fore, and he eventually made it to chief photographer of the company, which he served until 1945. Sadly, few records of Rhein have been preserved, as his company file was lost in a flooding of the cellars of the company on a cold winter's day in the early 1970s" (Hilde Van Gelder in einer Publikation zur Geschichte der Firma Gevaert). Charles Rhein war neben seiner Firmentätigkeit bei Gevaert auch Porträtfotograf von zeitgenössischen Künstlern vor allem aber von ca. 1925 bis 1944 einer der Hof-Photographen des belgischen Königshauses. Charles Rhein ist heute ein vergessener Fotograf, in der Literatur ist kaum etwas über ihn zu finden und ebenso sind seine Werke kaum noch bekannt, wohl vor allem wegen dem Verlust seines gesamten Werkes im Firmenarchiv durch einen Wasserschaden. - Aus dem persönlichen Nachlaß des Fotografen können wir noch eine Reihe von heute weitgehend unbekannten und verloren geglaubten fotografischen Abzügen aus seinem ehem.
