Illustrated with 125 b/w and color photographs; dozens of other b/w drawings and diagrams. In two parts: The Riding, and Care of the Horse. If anyone knows all about horses, it's Capt. Phillips. In 1972, he was a member of the British three-day event team, which won the gold medal at the Munich Olympics. He won the Badminton Horse Trials in 1971 and 1972 riding Great Ovation, in 1974 on Colombus, and in 1981 on Lincoln. For the last few years he has been the chef d'Equipe [coach] of the American Three Day Eventing Team, which won several medals at the 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Olympics, under his guidance. Excellent all around book for anyone starting riding and caring for a horse. ; B&W and Color Illustrations; 7 1/2 x 9 3/4; 124 pages; Cover has very minor bumping. DJ has slight shelf wear.
