James Frances was born in 1834 in Missouri and enlisted in the First Arkansas on June 14, 1862 to help save Missouri and Arkansas from falling into Confederate hands. The book relates his service time in the Civil War and the conditions in the area after the war. The book lists the skirmished, battles, and movements of the First Arkansas through the war years and give is complete roster and biography of the Company D soldiers and officers. A clean very presentable copy.
