First Edition
Trade Paperback. Condition: Very Good. First Edtion. 36 Un-numbered pages. Covers show light wear. Interior text and Illustration pages are clean, white, and unmarked. Included is a condensed version of an unpublished biography of Frederic Remington and Catalogues of Remington's Paintings and Bronzes. Also included is brief biography of Charles M. Russell by J. Frank Dobie and Catalogues of Russell's Paintings and Bronzes. No date is given for this Exhibition. The Gilcrease Museum was founded in 1949 as a private museum by Tulsa oilman Thomas Gilcrease (1890-1962), who amassed the nation's most comprehensive collection of art of the American West, as well as major collections of historical documents and artifacts. American art historian Richard Saunders once called Gilcrease Museum a kind of Smithsonian Institution of the American West. Although a powerful tribute, Saunders's comment only hints at the museum's ongoing impact and influence. There are fifteen black and white glossy photographs of Remington and Russell's works. Size: 5 1/2" X 8 1/4".
