Tras los desembarcos aliados en el norte de África en 1942, las autoridades de la Francia Libre crearon el Corps Franc d?Afrique para dar cabida a todos los combatientes de origen extranjero. Entre ellos, un puñado de republicanos españoles que finalmente acabarían integrados en lo que sería la 9. ª Compañía del Regimiento de Marcha del Chad, enmarcada en la 2e Division Blindée del general Leclerc, ?la Nueve? Su epopeya los llevaría a tomar parte protagonista en la liberación de París, siendo una de las primeras fuerzas aliadas en entrar en la emblemática ciudad a las 21. 22 h del 24 de agosto de 1944.
