A collection of requests and recipes for dinners and dining in the household of Mary, Queen of Scots during the sixteenth century, with the date of 1562. This vanishingly scarce work includes references to the dining processes for ladies in waiting at the court of Mary Stuart in France and Scotland. Written by de Pinguillon. Previously held in the library of John Benjamin Heath, a London merchant and Governor of the Bank of England from 1845 to 1847. Bound in full brown calf with card slip case. Externally, worn with rubbing and light loss to the extremities. Fading to the spine and marks to the boards. Front board detached and a crack to the tail of the rear joint. Rear hinge tender. Card slip case is smart with light shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with light scattered spotting. Age toning to the extremities and the odd mark to the page. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Good Only. book.
