Stanley Richard Pocock (1923-2014) was a legendary figure in the world of rowing in the Pacific Northwest. Born and raised in Seattle, Stan had an early connection with rowing as both an oarsman at the University of Washington and as a boatbuilding apprentice with his father, George - a legendary pioneer in the world of building racing shells. This is a comprehensive and thorough account of Pocock's life and his celebrated contributions to competitive rowing in American, including his development of the racing shells used by rowing crews around the world. The noted Northwest photographer, Josef Scaylea, took may of the photos shown in this book. Others were taken by Susan Parkman.
