Pontchartrain écrit à ce sujet à M. de Sartoux qui leur expliquera .que tous ceux qui feront quelque désordre, quel quil soit, seront chassés de la Comp[agn]ie. Le Roy attend de connaître .sur ce qui sest passé entre des gardes de la marine et la sentinelle qui estoit au magazin aux poudres. pour déterminer sil faut en venir au Conseil de Guerre. Il approuve en attendant quils aient été mis aux fers à larsenal, ainsi que le détachement de deux galères et la sortie des deux lanches .pour donner la chasse aux corsaires napolitains qui ont paru vers Antibes et St Tropez. La corvette La Dorade escortera les bâtiments destinés pour la foire de Beaucaire, et lautre sera désarmée, estant inutile a present. Nous navons aucunes nouvelles de larmée ennemie. Elle navoit point encore paru aux costes de catalogne le 10, et il y a beaucoup dapparence quelle sera entrée dans le Port Mahon pour se racomoder, ayant souffert par mauvais temps. et pour attendre les galères de Naples, de Sicile et de Sardaigne.

Répondant à la lettre du comte dEstrées, Pontchartrain lui fait part des observations du Roy qui .ne doute plus que la flotte ennemie ne soit retournée sur leur costes de Catalogne puisque le 3ème de ce mois, elle navoit pas reparu sur celles de Provence, et M. le chevalier Daubetere escrit quon a dêcouvert des montagnes 20. A 25 Vaux qui faisoient routte pour Barcelonne. Jay fait observer a Sa Ma(jesté) que Mr le grand prieur a donné les retranchements faits aux freres bien disposez, et les bataillons de la marine qui y sont campez, et ceux qui sont a Toulon, en bon ordre.Le ministre lui fait part aussi .de la resolution que le Roy a pris darmer 30 vaux (vaisseaux) dans le mois de septembre prochain, elle doit être tenuë secrette, autant quil se pourra, et., ajoute-t-il, .je ne lay communiquée quà M. le maréchal de Tourville et à M. de Vaunué, pour se mettre en estat dexecuter cet ordre avec diligence. Enfin, il a été ordonné au maréchal de Tourville .denvoyer les deux lanches et la corvette commandée par le Sr de Valles à Villefranche pour chasser les corsaires napolitains qui croisent dans ce parage, la corvette escortera les bastiments qui seront destinés pour la foire de Beaucaire.

Paul Phélyppeaux de Pontchartrain compta parmi les ministres les plus efficaces de la régente Marie de Médicis. La paix de Loudun, qu'il négocie en 1616, permet à cette dernière de prendre Condé au piège de son propre orgueil: son entrée au Conseil royal, conséquence du traité, sert en fait de prologue à son arrestation. Les mémoires de Phélyppeaux éclairent donc une période cruciale, qui voit en outre l'ascension de Richelieu -chargé des Affaires étrangères justement en 1616- et précède de peu l'assassinat de Concini par lequel le jeune LouisXIII rejettera la tutelle de sa mère.
