    Condition: Good. Lucas Rotgans (illustrator). etching / engraving on hand laid (vergé) paper. Sheet size: 14 x 17,8 cm. (5,5 x 7 inch). Image size: 12,3 x 16 cm. (4,8 x 6,3 inch).From: 'Boerekermis, Quantum est in rebis inane .', by Lucas Rotgans, first published in 1708, but also later as part of 'Poezy', published by Halma c. 1715.Made by 'possibly by either J. Folkema or M. Pool' after 'Lucas Rotgans'. Lukas Rotgans (1653-1710) was a Dutch author. His works is usually seen as part of French classicism in the Netherlands. Willem Kloos (a Dutch poet) reputedly said this work (Boerekermis) reminded him of paintings of Van Ostade and Jan Steen.Condition: Good, given age. One plate remargined at top.
