First Edition Signed
Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. First printing (per publisher's requisite statement upon copyright page) SIGNED BY A. SHEPARD, JOHN GLENN, SCOTT CARPENTER, WALLY SCHIRRA (with additional "Apollo 7" handwritten note), AND DEKE SLAYTON ALL ON FRONT FLYLEAF RECTO (signed by five of the seven Mercury astronauts - unfortunately lacks the signatures of Gus Grissom and Gordon Cooper). 352 pages. Hardcover: H 24.25cm x L 16.75cm. Dust jacket lightly rubbed with nicks and several short tears at edges; small slender chip at rear panel's top edge; dj's clear laminate unevenly applied causing mild rippling at lower rear panel and slender air gap along rear flap fold; laminate also laid fractionally shy of flaps' terminal edges as well as dj's top and bottom edges resulting in slender bands of dark soiling in the narrow gap areas; front flap retains publisher's printed price at its bottom front flap corner; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Full black cloth binding with bold white stamped lettering to front board and spine. Light toning to top edge. Binding shows slight stress within the first quire but still quite firm. Publisher's printing error on page 348 of the Index with missed lettering adjacent to fore-edge margin so that headings are missing their first letter near top but nearly three initial letters towards bottom. Else a very good copy in a good+ dust jacket.
