She was also the first female magistrate in Canada and the British Empire. This book contained sketches of life in Alberta. 307pp, illustrated with numerous b&w drawings in the text and a frontis page illustration in colour. Clean interior. Unmarked except for a previous owner's name to the htp. This copy lacking the blank leaf at the front which has been cleanly removed - most likely to remove prior ownership details. Tight, square binding. Green ribbed cloth with illustration of a Tree in black and gilt titles. very attractive copy.
