This six-volume set assembles extensive historical accounts and documentary evidence concerning the French Estates-General and other national assemblies,…tracing their precedents, procedures, and constitutional significance. Printed under the false imprint âLa Hayeâ but in fact published in Paris by Buisson, the set reflects the atmosphere of 1788 â" a France on the brink of political crisis, where public discourse turned urgently to questions of representation, sovereignty, and the rights of the nation.
