In full leather binding with gilt stamps on covers and paneled spine; partial label with handwritten titling to spine. Heavy wear and chipping to boards. Both boards are loose. Cracking and chipping to leather on spine, with loss of material to head and tail. Text block is worn, soiled, and age toned along edges. Moderately age toned and foxed throughout, with scatted stains and sparse pencil and pen marginalia, underlining, and notation. Title page is loose, with significant chipping along all edges. Pg. 25-36 are missing. No pages missing from the other irregularities or gaps in pagination; contents remain continuous. Inscription along top edge of title page remains partially visible: "[.]bert: Anderson". The following page is also inscribed in ink in the top margin: "Francis Anderson de Jesmond in comitatu Northumbria". This inscription is likely from Sir Francis Anderson (1614-1679), a prominent Royalist, member of Parliament, and Mayor of Newcastle. The book is housed in a new protective archival sleeve.
