Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Making public the issue of sexual violence - men's violence to women and children - has been a major feminist success story of the past couple of decades. This book gives an important insight into the new issues and questions that have become central to our understanding of sexual violence and abuse, and the new directions in which research in this area has developed. It is a collection of the many exciting ideas, discussions and developments arising from the work of the researchers and activists who are part of the British Sociological Association Violence Against Women Study Group. It reflects a shared commitment to research that centres on the material reality of women's lives and assists the generation of strategies for change. The authors explore differences in women's experiences and how these relate to different ways of coping with men's violence. Women, Violence and Male Power is of direct relevance to practitioners working with survivors of abuse, as well as students and researchers in the fields of: women's studies, criminology, sociology, social policy and social work. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

First Edition
First Edition. Paperbound. From mystery author Sue GraftonÕs private research library on crime that she used as she wrote her novels. With the Sue Grafton estate bookplate on interior of the front cover, and with a letter of authentication from Grafton's husband. With a page tab at a point of interest to GraftonÕs research. 279 pages. About fine with a hint of foxing to the outer edges in printed wrappers. Sue Grafton (1940 - 2017) is best known as the author of the Ôalphabet seriesÕ which began with A Is for Alibi (1982) featuring private investigator Kinsey Millhone in the fictional city of Santa Teresa, CA - roughly modeled after Santa Barbara, CA where she made her home. Sadly, she did not live long enough to publish the last letter of the alphabet, with her final work being Y Is for Yesterday (2017). The daughter of detective novelist C.W. Grafton, she said the strongest influence on her crime novels was Ross Macdonald. Before her success with this series, she wrote screenplays for television movies.
