Hardcover. Condition: As New. 1st Edition, Limited Edition. Limited to 2000 HC copies. As new. Clean and unmarked/unread. Fritz Leiber remarked "At the time that Lovecraft died, Donald Wandrei was the most natural successor to him that I could think of." Robert Bloch called him "one of the most important creative talents in the Lovecraft circle." Surpisingly, however, his work was out-of-print for many years, after his break with Arkham House in the aftermath of the death of co-founder August Derleth. This 416-page tome includes stories originally published in venues including Weird Tales, Astounding Stories, Fantasy Magazine, Argosy, and Esquire; some from The Minnesota Quarterly, and a number of pieces never published before this book was assembled. Here the reader can revel in the weird imagination of Donald Wandrei without collecting dozens of rare and scattered pulps or buying rare Arkham House volumes. Supplemented by non-fiction discussion by those who knew him, and introduced by the author's neighbor, Don't Dream complements Colossus (Wandrei's science fiction-- though the boundaries were fuzzy during the Golden Age!) to form a broad survey-- arguably the best of his fiction.…

kart. Condition: Wie neu. Gebraucht - Wie neu -The new FRCR part 1 Anatomy examination comprises 20 cases/images, with five questions about each. The cases are labelled 01 to 20 and the five questions are labelled (a) to (e). The authors have set out to emulate this format by gathering 200 cases which, from their experience, are representative of the cases on which candidates will be tested. The book consists of 10 tests with 20 cases each, and 5 stem questions each. The answers, along with an explanation and tips, accompany each test at the end of the chapter. This will help candidates to identify the level of anatomical knowledge expected by the Royal College of Radiologists. The aim of this book is not to replace the already available literature in radiological anatomy, but to complement it as a revision guide. Whereas radiological anatomy atlases and textbooks provide images with labels for every possible identifiable structure in an investigation, the cases in this book have only 5 labels, simulating the exam.…

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Natural product chemistry has undergone an explosive growth during the latter half of the current century. This has been brought about by a number of factors. One of these has been the growing number of sub stances from natural sources which display interesting pharmacological activities. These include antibiotics, anti-tumor agents, immunostimu lants, drugs affecting the cardiovascular and central nervous systems, analgesics etc. Another factor has been the improvements made in the technology of isolation processes which includes the development of such techniques as high pressure liquid chromatography which has al lowed the rapid isolation of substances which were previously diffi cult to obtain by classical procedures. The most important factor has been the development of new spectrosopic techniques which have opened up whole new vistas in this exciting field. Prominent in these advan ces has been the advent of powerful superconducting magnets with very stable magnetic fields, and pulse NMR in which the duration, direction and phases of pulses can be accurately controlled by means of mini computers. These have heralded the advent of two-dimensional NMR spec troscopy which has now come to be routinely employed in unravelling complex structures. No less important, though somewhat less dramatic, have been the advances made in the field of mass spectroscopy where new ionization techniques such as positive and negative fast atom bom bardment, field desorption, chemical ionization etc. have allowed the mass spectra of larger non-volatile substances to be recorded. The field of organic synthesis has seen equally rapid advances.…
