His assassination in Sarajevo is considered the most immediate cause of World War I. He was a dedicated game hunter and kept meticulous records of his numerous hunting expeditions. During his life-time, it is recorded that he killed close on 275,000 animals. His world tour of 1892-1893 included time in Australia and it is no surprise to see that this catalogue was in his archive.
