Printed Gray Boards. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Second Impression, 1961. This is a encore volume to The Cat's Cradle, and stars the same two kittens who created havoc in the first outing. Among the props this time are a typewriter, a film projector, a kitchen scale, a miniature beach chair. In every case the kittens put them to use in ways the manufacturers could never have conceived. But as good as the sight gags are, Dehn's accompanying doggerel (pardon) verse raises the mishaps from joke to humor. Here's an instance describing kitten + eggbeater + mixing bowl + eggshells: "Or make an omlet. Take four eggs --/Salt, pepper and a whisk./Stand firm, on stoutly planted legs,/To make your whisking brisk./Whisked with the proper expertise/Your beaten eggs should rise --/Until your Omlette en Surprise/Is truly a surprise." About 63 unnumbered pages. Dustjacket has discolored slightly, and has mended tears; boards are clean and sound; text is clean and strong.
