Uncommon memoir detailing the life and career of Black American educator Jacob L. Reddix (1897-1973), who worked at the Farm Security Administration during the 1930s, and served from 1940 to 1967 as the president of Mississippi Negro Training School (now Jackson State University). This copy warmly inscribed and dated in 1989 we surmise by Reddix's daughter, Shirley Reddix Vanderpool, one of the book's dedicatees: "To Peggi: . As you embark upon your story in relation to your times! Shall treasure your visit with me and look forward to many more pleasant times together!".

Hardcover, 238 pp. INSCRIBED by Daisy Shirley Reddix, wife of Jacob Reddix and his daughter Shirley Reddix Vanderpool to Juliet Dodd Blackburn Beamon, grandughter of John Wesley Dobbs, and early leader in the African American community in Atlanta. Ms. Beamon was also a first cousin to Maynard Jackson, the first black mayor of Atllanta. Also laid in is an autograph party program for the event at which this book was signed on October 27, 1974. Ms. Beamon has inked her initials JBB on the bottom page edges, several pages with a few sentences underlined, still a very good copy in tight binding and in a very good dust jacket (a couple closed edge tears and few minor spots which are rubbed). Now protected in an archival cover.
