Auteur très complet, poète, romancier, philosophe, Charles Régismanset fut diplômé de l'École coloniale et une grande partie de sa vie haut fonctionnaire employé au Ministère des colonies. Il est tenu comme l'un des précurseurs du genre de "littérature exotique" et ses essais sur le colonialisme tranchent avec leur temps par leur lucidité.

Couverture souple. Condition: Bon. Philosophie. Charles Régismanset, né le 22 juillet 1877 à Paris et mort le 5 janvier 1945, est un écrivain et un fonctionnaire français. Originaire d'une famille de notables de l'Aude, Charles Régismanset, diplômé de l'École coloniale, fut une grande partie de sa vie haut fonctionnaire employé…au Ministère des colonies. De 1901 à 1903, il effectue une mission en Éthiopie. Membre de l'Académie des sciences coloniales en 1922, il est nommé directeur de l'Agence générale des colonies entre 1924 et 1926. Il fut par ailleurs un homme de lettres : poète, romancier, philosophe même avec sa Philosophie des parfums que Rémy de Gourmont aréciait. Ses aphorismes ou maximes témoignent d'une grande finesse d'esprit, ainsi que ces essais sur le colonialisme qui tranchent avec leur temps par leur lucidité ; Rachilde et Natalie Clifford Barney entretinrent une correspondance avec lui.
