Add to basketPaperback. Condition: new. Paperback. When Jesus Christ ascended into heaven He did not leave His Church as a fragmented, divided, fractured fellowship of His people. At that time the Church was truly "catholic," that is universally uniform in its teaching or doctrine. Today's churchly institutions are a poor echo of our Lord's intent for His Church. Todays institutional church bodies are not catholic in their understanding of a universally held doctrine taught by Christ and His Apostles. Instead, they engage in multiple choice "truth," agree to be in fellowship with those who hold diametrically opposed views of the Christian faith, and engage in fellowship at the Lord's Supper that was never intended to accommodate variances of belief at what was to be an earthly expression of penultimate unity in Christ. Richard Bolland has written in The Church Is One of the true and intended nature of Christ's Church on earth. The unity which he describes is a far cry from the subjectivism, pluralism, and disarray that goes by the name "Christian" today. His is a clarion call to look at the person and nature of God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit Himself as a model for the unity of the true, visible Church on earth. Pastor Bolland asserts that God cannot and did not call into being a Church that does not reflect the unity of His own nature. For a Holy, Righteous, and Perfect God to do so, would be to violate who He is. Bolland insists that to be the true Church on earth, she must be united in doctrine, practice, at the Lord's Table and the font of Holy Baptism. Moreover, the unity of the true Church should also be united in her most central activity where Word and Sacrament flow to empower all other activities of Christ's Church - Her worship. In a culture that idolizes personal preferences, cultural accommodations, and which worships at the false altar of innovation, Rev. Bolland seek a God-pleasing uniformity to the greatest extent possible within Christ's Church. He challenges the reader to find his way back to the foot of the Mount of the Ascension and to see the Church our Lord still intends for His people. This item is printed on demand.
