No Jacket. hardback, 12mo, blind stamped purple cloth faded to brown, lettered gilt to spine, rubbed at head and foot of spine, the stitching remains tight, evidence of a bookplate having once been laid to the front pastedown, signature of William Hopkinson at the head of the front free endpaper and in the same hand, on the recto and verso of the rear free endpaper is an annotated account of the inscriptions on the original Little Gidding sacramental silver. The body of text is clean and unmarked, viii + 220pp. William Hopkinson bought the Little Gidding Estate in 1848 and did much to restore and improve the Church, including a presentation of new silver in 1853.

Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. 2nd Edition. Rebound green cloth hard cover with gilt titles and gilt catalogue marking on the spine, and no cover wear. Interior contains viii, 220 untrimmed pages with some spotting and a handwritten list of 6 names facing the title page, which allows each individual a fortnight to read the book before passing it on (private lending library?). Inside the front cover is a discrete hand written catalogue number, but there are no lending library stamps. Nicholas Ferrar founder of a protestant establishment at Little Gidding, Huntingdonshire; and chiefly collected from a narrative by The Right Rev. Dr Turner formerly Lord Bishop of Ely and now edited with additions by The Rev. T M Macdonogh. This attractively rebound scarce 1837 2nd edition volume is in near fine condition.
