Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. In a three-quarter brown leather hardcover with gilt titles to spine and marbled boards. No dust jacket. Green end papers. 993 pp. with a number of engravings. The book is in good condition. It has heavy shelf-wear to the extremities of the cover, especially the corners, the title block is damaged although the title itself is still present, the boards are quite heavily scuffed. The hinges are cracked and the binding slightly slack. There is a former owner's stamp to the top corner of the ffep. There is light foxing to the front matter and tanning to pages adjacent to engravings. There is minor tanning to the extremities of th pages. Otherwise the pages are clean and unmarked. Book weighs 2.3 kg., additional postage will be required.

Boards are firm, tight and solid just rubbed and aged with time as should be expected and bumped on the corners. A heavy book with 984 pages, pages are clean and bright just toned with time and with some light browning on some pages. Illustrated throughout and also contains original colour illustrated maps. Pasted label from previous owner on inside front cover and the same name very neatly printed on the top of the illustrations page dated February 8th 1872. Overall a well preserved copy. Usual toning and shelf wear should be expected. A scarce original copy.
