Partial black leather with marbled paper over boards -- shows moderate corner wear, gilt stamping on spine still bright, tightly bound, name on front fly leaf, o/w unmarked, with generally bright paper showing some signs of handling, soiling and some foxing. Illustrated frontispiece, plus medallion like woodcuts at the begging of each chapter depicting one of the Caesars. 221 pages, plus advertisements.

The first edition thus, title page states "Part I" but this volume all issued of this version of the work. Kidder has revised Dick's earlier, more extensive book, omitting the parts dealing with religious and philosphical issues and retaing only the scientific and astromonical parts. Very good, cloth evenly faded and spine lettering somewhat rubbed.
