Condition Blue hardback binding, fair, gilt embossed cover good, minor corner bumps, Rear good, blind embossed, minor corner bumps, lacks spine. Contents very good, the odd minimal mark & owners name top half title of Mifs Sibthorpe. illustrated with 7 single sided plates, a tour map (drawn by Lizar) & 6 illustrated plates (drawn by W. Banks & Robert Gibb), frontispiece is of Loch Katrine, it also lists the same plate to also face page 43 but believe this to be a publishers mistake as other copies are the same , also 3 vignettes within text. Undated c1848 ( found a sold copy that the owner inscribed 1848) It would seem Lizars of Edinburgh published a number of undated tour guides for Scotland as the Railways were bringing more tourists coming and now all are rare, as most were bought by early Railway tourists. They were published by W H Lizars, Edinburgh, but also mentions S. Highley, London; W. Curry, jun. and Company, Dublin not sure if they were co publishers or just sold them. Size: 11.5 x 18.25cm Approx.
