Vintage press photograph of "The Showdown," the professional boxing match between Sugar Ray Leonard and Thomas Hearns on September 16, 1981. Printed mimeo snipe and United Press International stamp on the verso. Leonard would emerge the world welterweight champion after 14 rounds. The duo would meet again in a rematch eight years later, on June 12, 1989. From the archive of the PIX Agency, an American photo house that acted as an intermediary between emigre photographers (as well as those still living in Europe) and the American magazine and newspaper market between 1935-1969. 8 x 10 inches.
