Rosenmuller. In full prize calf, with a frontispiece engraved by James Fittler, the appointed marine engraver of George III. An intriguing series of lectures inspired by Lowth's doctoral thesis of 1754, published in Latin and citing Hebrew scriptural passages. Lowth was among the first scholars to observe the rhythmic structures within the psalms and prophetic literature of the Old Testament. In full prize calf. Externally, smart, with the odd small mark and minor fading to the spine. Slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. Minor rubbing to joints. Marble end papers are bright and clean, with slight browning to prize bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound.
