Original broadside with black lettering on stiff paper stock with red seal of the American Legation, protected by modern mylar. Printed text in English, Russian and Hungarian with handwritten address of the protected citizen. Official document, signed and sealed, issued by the American Mission in Hungary indicating that the property of the named citizen is under the protection of the American Government. Signed by the Foreign Service Officer Robert S. Folsom, Second Secretary of the American Legation to Hungary from July 1945. Full text: "Attention! By authority of the United States Mission in Hungary the interests of American citizens in this property are under the protection of the American government." The text also printed in full in Russian and Hungarian. The purpose of the sign is to protect the named citizen from looting which was common during the hardships of the postwar time, respectively the prevention of expropriation of private property by the military of civilian authorities. Document somewhat age toned with two punch holes at top and light wear along edges, small chips and closed tears. Scarce document In very good condition.
