Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Poor. 1st Edition. Here is "Australian Landscapes in Miniature". The book has 45 reproductions in color of paintings by various artists, accompanied by a text by Roy H. Goddard. The book was published in 1952 in hardcover format by The Legend Press of Sydney Australia. The dust-jacket is quite rough in condition, being split into two sections, both rather ragged about the edges, and with the spine panel practically non-existent. The book's cover and interior, on the other hand, are nicely preserved, with the reproductions presenting in bright colors. ************************************************** The artists, whose individual styles vary considerably, are as follows : Sir Arthur Streeter, John Rowell, Gordon Esling, S. Woodward-Smith, Elioth Gruner, Lance Solomon, Robert Johnson, John Salvana, Max Ragless, Frank McNamara, Kenneth Macqueen, Alfred H. Cook, Hans Heysen, Rex Batterbee, Erik Langker, Albert Namatijira , Otto Pereroultja , Cordulia Ebatarinja (The last three all of the Arunta Tribe). All of the paintings seem to be held in private collections. It's a lovely book, and the presentation as a whole presents a vivid array, showing off the natural beauty and amazing variety of the Australian landscape. ************************************************** TITLE : Australian Landscapes in Miniature / AUTHOR : Roy H. Goddard / IMPRINT : The Legend Press / PLACE : Sydney, Australia / DATE : (1952) / EDITION : Not Stated [ First Edition] / SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES : Color Illustrations / DETAILS : Thin hardcover binding; 45 color illustrations; text and illustrations printed on lightly calendered paper (semi-glossy); 28 unnumbered pages (pagination includes title page); approx. 7 1/4" x 9 1/2"; printed cream colored board covers with title in white and brown against a pale gray panel. No lettering on spine; color pictorial dust-jacket is quite rough and ragged, and is split into two parts and mostly lacks spine panel. / STATUS : Out of Print (OP) ************************************************ CONDITION -- BOOK : VERY GOOD DUST-JACKET : POOR This is a previously owned book that remains - as far as the book itself - in clean and serviceable condition, with the following particulars noted :: EXTERIOR : Slight weathering about the edges - spine is darkened - else clean. / BINDING : While there is cracking to the hinges (slight separation of leaves at the gutters) no leaves are detached and the whole remains fairly solid. / INTERIOR : There is what looks to be a small paint smear at the foot of one page, else the interior is clean and unmarked. No writing - no marginalia. / DUST-JACKET : Poor condition but it is still present and protected from further deterioration by a clear mylar cover.
