Condition: NUOVO. Milano, Il Saggiatore cm.14,5x22, pp.143, brossura. Collana Pamphlet.

Hardcover. Condition: Very good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very good. xviii, [2], 315 pages. Illustrations. Chronology. Notes. Sources. Index. DJ has slight wear and soiling. Presentation copy signed and dated by author (Carl). Carl B. Feldbaum (born February 1, 1944, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American author, businessman a…nd lawyer. He co-authored "Looking the Tiger in the Eye" which was awarded the Christopher Medal and was a New York Times Book of the Year in 1988. From 1970 to 1973, Feldbaum served as Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia. In 1973 he became an Assistant Special Prosecutor charged with investigating the Watergate scandal. He later served as Inspector General for Defense Intelligence in the Pentagon (1976-1979), Assistant to the Secretary of Energy (1979-1981), and Chief of Staff to Senator Arlen Specter (1988-1993). Ronald J. Bee is an author and media commentator on U.S. foreign policy, international security, US-NATO relations, U.S.-Middle East relations, nuclear weapons proliferation, and terrorism. Derived from a Kirkus review: Efforts to control the nuclear arsenal have foundered on the rocks of fear, suspicion, and misunderstanding, The authors use memoirs, transcripts, and other original sources (their ten-page bibliography is both deep and wide) to analyze the contributions of major figures, from Roentgen to Oppenheimer to Gorbachev. Treaty negotiations and the development of new delivery systems--bombers, missiles of various ranges, and nuclear-powered submarines--are discussed in a clear, authoritative way. Both authors take a generally conservative stance, favoring the SDI and suggesting that, to maintain true parity, bilateral reductions in nuclear weapons should be accompanied by reductions in Soviet conventional forces. They close with a call to action rather than a detailed agenda. This is an important source of information for debaters, but it's also written to educate rather than shock. First Edition [Stated], First Printing [Stated].
