The original paper wraps are preserved but the pictorial coloured front cover is damp stained and this shows through to the frontispiece and very lightly also to the title page, there is some occasional foxing else the remainder of the text is free of soling/marking. Bookplate of a previous owner to front pastedown. Illustrated throughout with b&w plates and illustrations to the text, xiv + 284pp.

The inscription on the half-tilte is from von Rosen to Orvar Karlbeck, railway engineer turned archaeologist, whose Syndicate supplied the world's museums and private collectors with Chinese Han Dynasty bronzes between 1928 and 1934. Karlbeck's book plate on the fpd with the signature of Marianne Karlbeck-Straat. 4to - over 9¾" - 12".
