In-8°.[12] 308 ff, [16] 179 ff. Boards, leather missing. Rare work by the flemish franciscan Jean Royards. Born in the late 15th century in Audenaarde he devoted his life to the church. Died in Bruges in 1547 and is buried in the church of the "cordelieren". The work is missing the leather covers and is waterstained, still acceptable. Ref: Bibl.Belgica, T2, pp 708.

Small thick 12mo, rebound circa 1800 in 1/2 brown calf and scuffed marbled boards, cropped margins at the top and side, affecting a few pages where there are printed marginal notes. A small strip of paper has been pasted on each title page hiding the authors names. Paris: Apud Audoenum Parvum, 1553. Good.

In 8? (cm 10 x 16), legatura piena pelle settecentesca con spellature, dorso con titoli e fregi in oro, mancanze alle cuffie. Pp (20), 176 per la "Pars Hyemalis"; (1) c b; pp (16), 204 per la "Pars Aestivalis". Imprese tipografiche ai due frontespizi. Esemplare in buone condizioni, carte lievemente brunite, antica firma alla sguardia, ex libris manoscritto "D. Lucii Visconti MC" al primo frontespizio, su strisciolina di carta incollata. Forellini di tarlo alla sguardia e al primo frontespizio, senza perdita di testo. Al colophon della "Pars Hyemalis": "Parisiis, ec Chalcographia Ioannis Savetier, anno salutis Christianae 1553"; la data 1553 ? ripetuta anche al colophon della "Pars Aestivalis", senza dati tipografici. In calce alla dedica al Lettore, troviamo "Antwerpiae 1538", luogo e data della prima edizione (Steelsius). Omelie del frate minore belga Royaard (1475?-1547) su personaggi biblici, sui quattro generi di amici che esistono; sui quattro pericoli che insidiano l'anima; sui tipi di candelabri che si usano durante le processioni; sul divieto fatto da Dio di mangiare la carne dei propri figli; contro la volutt? della carne; sulla "cervice dura Iudaei" e la loro malizia; sugli eretici e il loro uso capzioso delle Scritture, e descrizione di alcune di esse quali i Nestoriani; gli eresiarchi; esorcismi operati da santi quali S. Martino, le propriet? della luna nelle sue varie fasi, le propriet? e effetti della luce; innumerevoli i riferimenti al diavolo, "nemico, aspide, basilisco, leone, drago" e alla classificazione delle sue insidie.
