Hardcover. Condition: Good. 444 pp. Tightly bound. Lower corners lightly bumped. Rounding to cloth at heel. Text is free of markings. No ownership markings. Published without dust jacket. A good to very good copy. This copy is smyth sewn. Smyth sewing is a method of bookbinding where groups of folded pages (referred to as signatures) are stitched together using binder thread. Each folded signature is sewn together individually with multiple stitches and then joined with other signatures to create the complete book block. This is the traditional and best method of bookbinding.

Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. First Printing. Italian exiles in England, 1805-1864: Mazzini, Rosetti, Cabour and Garibaldi, etc. Lovely square book with dark cinnamon topstain. Spine is sunned and has faded to a somewhat browner tone. Front board blind-stamped with Columbia University seal. Inscribed on FFE in blue fountain pen: "To Arnold / colleague, friend, fighter for democracy. / Harry Rudman / Nov. 1, 1940." There was originally a surname after "Arnold" -- previous owner has stoned off this name, leaving a rough spot on the paper, which is nonetheless intact. Book was acquired with others once belonging to Arnold Shaw, who founded the Popular Music Research Center at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and wrote numerous books on the history of American popular music. Book likely belonged to Arnold Shaw, but has no other ownership marking. 444 pp. including indices. Printed in Woking, Great Britain. Signed association copy. Reduced from $110. Inscribed by Author(s).
