Subsequent chapters present the passage to orthogonal and natural representations. No prior knowledge of the general theory of group characters is assumed, and the author deduces the necessary theory for the symmetric group. The final chapter illustrates the substitutional aspect of the theory, and a helpful appendix and bibliography conclude the text. Pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with light foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards have been moderately rub worn. Noticeable shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are bumped and a little frayed Spine ends are crushed, with noticeable splits and chips. Heavy splits to spine joints.
